Put on your pith helmet and khakis and make your way through a lush, procedurally generated world full of wonder and mystery. Together with famous personalities you will venture on unprecedented expeditions to regions never explored before for fame, science and treasures. i.e.Curious Expedition is a roguelike expedition simulation set in the late 19th century. It looks like a game, but it plays like a sort of personality test "game" in a university setting. all I could do is walk on a pretty much empty island and go to about 4 locations and click on something that would spring some horribly written "narrative" on me and some of the marvelously interesting pseudo choices I mentioned above. The pictures of this game make a totally different impression than what the game provides. this has the stink of a badly designed board game made for some political event to be handed out in goodie bags. I've played games in the 90s that had zero government funding (unlike this game), looked better, had a logic that was followed throughout the game and was fun. It takes the worst ideas from ancient games and puts them in here, like not telling you what you can't do, springing consequences on you from nothing, nannying you when and what you can do, like you can't rest suddenly after you trade or you can't dig after you make an offering. it's a fever dream of some university inspired, government grant financed do gooder who has never played an actual computer game in their whole life and doesn't plan on changing that.Įverything in here is cancer: from the UI elements covering game popups so you can't actually read them to fighting mechanics that need 10x the clicks and provide 0.1 times the enjoyment of other, similar titles. ![]() There is literally nothing there for anyone playing a game. ![]() ![]() ![]() The amount of garbage mechanics shoved into this trash fire is just amazing to behold. ![]()
